New Opportunities in the High School

WSCS has partnered with Cedarville university to offer in-person Dual enrollment classes right here at WSCS. Students can graduate with 30 college credits from a fully accredited Christian university.

Are you bored with the same old traditional high school offerings? WSCS has launched personalized educational tracks. Interested in careers, entrepreneurship, leadership, athletics, arts and more? Learn how WSCS can help you achieve your best and prepare you to transition beyond high school.

At Winston Salem Christian School (WSCS), our High School (9-12) provides a Christ-centered, academically rigorous, and nurturing environment where students grow spiritually, intellectually, socially, and emotionally. One of the most unique elements of our high school comes from a robust international program that brings students to Winston Salem from all around the globe. A house system provides opportunities for social interaction and service through an immediate opportunity for belonging among a group of peers. WSCS provides a strong academic foundation while fostering a love for learning, ensuring that every student feels safe, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Life-long friendships are formed in the classroom, the playing fields, and in the dorm life provided at WSCS.

Our Approach

At WSCS, we believe that a student can thrive as they explore their God-given talents and interests. We have created an environment where students feel accepted and valued. We partner with families to create a supportive, faith-driven community, fostering open communication and collaboration. Students are able to pursue traditional studies as well as pursue individual tracks of interest. The academic experience allows for traditional college prep coursework, Advanced Placement classes, independent studies of interest, and collegiate courses through a unique partnership with a Christian college.

Students thrive in an engaging, hands-on learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and academic achievement. Through small class sizes, individualized instruction, and Christ-centered teaching, we cultivate a love for knowledge and character development, preparing students for success well beyond their high school experience.

WSCS has created unique learning environments to instill student success. Our high school students have a TIDE lab for technology, innovation, design, and entrepreneurship, along with a MAC lab, public speaking chapel, outdoor pavilion, Esports room, science lab, and coming in the spring of 2025, a specific student space for boarders that will allow community-building opportunities.

Our Philosophy

At WSCS, we are committed to developing the whole student—spiritually, academically, socially, and physically—in a loving and nurturing environment. Every student is uniquely gifted by God, and our goal is to cultivate their natural curiosity through developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning.

High School (9-12) students experience greater responsibility, autonomy, and academic rigor. Young adults are preparing for the freedom and opportunity of college life.

Students explore and expand their talents through enrichment programs, hands-on projects, and collaborative learning experiences. Students are encouraged to pursue passions and interests, and the school is present to help guide them and create these opportunities.

College and Career Counseling - Our high school counselor uses SCOIR to guide our students through the academic journey for preparation beyond WSCS. Students experience college support through college visits and test preparation. The counseling office is also there to support students with everyday life issues that arise. LEAP day assists students in vocation exploration. Whether your pursuit is an elite college, a technical trade, or taking over the family business, our college and career counselor will help you match your passions with God’s calling on your life.

By integrating faith and education, we encourage students to grow in both knowledge and character, equipping them for success long after their time at WSCS.

Spiritual Development

We recognize the responsibility of partnering with parents in nurturing their student’s spiritual growth. At WSCS, students experience:

Developing a Biblical worldview – Biblical principles are woven into every subject, reinforcing faith in everyday learning. Students are challenged
Biblical Foundation – Chapels, Bible classes, and even an on-campus church available for families and boarding students.  WSCS is committed to create opportunities for students to develop their understanding of God’s Word and building character.
Faith in Action – Students learn to serve others, make wise choices, and grow in wisdom and kindness. Service is a part of the fabric of our community. We have been tremendously blessed, and we want to teach our students to be a blessing to others.

By planting the seeds of God’s Word early, we help students develop a strong spiritual foundation that will guide them throughout their lives.

Academic Excellence & Curriculum

At WSCS, we believe in challenging students to reach their full potential while providing support to ensure success. Our comprehensive curriculum includes:

English - Students navigate 4 credits of English, developing a love for literature, writing, and communicating. This process culminates in a capstone project called Senior Thesis. Students research a chosen topic, completing a 20-page paper and 15-minute presentation. Students are able to pursue college credit through dual enrollment, providing the opportunity to complete 9 credits for college while in high school.
History – Human Geography to World History and US History, our international population allows for rich conversation in the world of History. AP classes and dual enrollment classes allow students to pursue 9 college credits in high school.

Financial Literacy strongly offered to address not only personal finances, but to create a strong foundation for the budding entrepreneur. Students have the opportunity to pursue 9 college credits in the math tracks available.
Science – AP Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Anatomy & Physiology provide hands-on opportunities in the world of science. Our small high school allows for mentorship and internship in the world of medicine for any potential nurses, doctors, or dentists.
Art & Music – Encouraging creative expression is a must for our students. Digital design work, drama, worship and the arts all provide outlets for the creatives in our school. Enrichment & Experiential Learning

Beyond core academics, WSCS provides dynamic, hands-on learning experiences that engage students and bring education to life:

STEM & Hands-On Science – Interactive science experiments and projects encourage innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Performing & Visual Arts – Students participate in two stage productions per year, developing skills in music, drama, and artistic expression under the guidance of specialized teachers. Our year end Art show is an incredible display of student art.
Physical Education –With numerous athletes on campus with hopes of college scholarships, our PE provides weight training and sport specific opportunities for our students. Athletic training is also an opportunity for the sports enthusiast to crossover between science and sport.
Project-Based Learning – Students apply their knowledge through real-world projects. Students have the tools and supplies to launch a business right here within the walls of WSCS.

Here are just a few of the amazing opportunities at WSCS.  You can explore more on our Student Life Page.

House Affiliation - Each student is placed in a house. Based on the verse Love the Lord your God with all your HEART (Kardia) MIND (Dianoia) STRENGTH (Dunamis) and SOUL (Pneuma), each student is placed in a house for challenges, camaraderie, and just good fun.

Lions Camp - Start the school year off in the mountains of North Carolina. Team building, relationship building, and house challenges

Homecoming Week - Theme Days, activities, and you will not want to miss the city wide Hunt for the Lion. WSCS has some of the best traditions around.

Student Outings - Bonfires, game nights, dances, athletic events, and just hanging out with friends. A boarding campus always has somewhere that students can get involved.

Service Learning - Developing a heart to serve and impact those around us. Service learning provides school-organized service projects throughout the city of Winston Salem. We have partnered with the Ronald McDonald House, Crisis Control, Crisis Pregnancy, and countless other nonprofits to serve and assist in our community.

LEAP Day stands for Learn, Explore, Achieve, and Plan. This day is spearheaded by administration and counseling services to introduce our students to outside speakers. Students learn about various aspects of the workforce, colleges, service industries, and life skills. The students have an opportunity to choose their own adventure on LEAP Day. Bankers, STEM, mental health, wellness, soft business skills, 4-year colleges and universities, realtors, financial advisors, military, law enforcement, and much more have introduced their field of work to students this year. We participate in 5 LEAP days per year!

Internships- Do you have an interest or passion? Allow WSCS to help create internship ideas. Some internships can be used for practical learning credits as well as provide valuable experience in work-related fields.

These experiences allow students to collaborate, think creatively, and showcase their talents and abilities.
