WSCS ELC (Early Learning Center) is a year-round, full-time daycare program that offers a quality academic program to children from 3 years through 5 years of age.  Our school atmosphere and instruction is distinctively Christian and we provide both an excellent preschool and quality childcare for students. We partner with parents in raising children in a positive, Christ-centered atmosphere.

We like to think of the WSCS ELC as a place that children and adults consider their second home…a place where they are accepted and loved…a place where laughter and play are cherished.  We appreciate the bond between parents, child, and teacher and are ready to partner with families as they navigate the wonderful and sometimes unpredictable world of raising children.  Continuous and open communication will always be an important part of how we operate.

The educational philosophy of our school centers on the development of the complete child: spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially.  Through a nurturing and loving environment, we are committed to helping our children reach their God-given potential through educational and developmentally appropriate activities. Young children thrive better in an early childhood education environment that says, “Welcome” . . .

  • with child-size equipment

  • with accepting and loving adults

  • with creative learning materials and activities

…all in a relaxed atmosphere characterized by the qualities of a good Christian home – trust, freedom, fun, laughter, imagination, guidance, work, achievement, hope, problem-solving, love, and peace.

A day at WSCS ELC is a day filled with games, laughter, music, exploration, wonder, experimentation, and growth.  New friendships are formed.  Discoveries are made.  Hurts are healed.  Most important, each child’s sense of esteem grows stronger through the activities and relationships experienced.

“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). God has given parents and teachers the awesome responsibility of nurturing the children He has placed in our care.  We believe that when we plant the seeds of God’s word, the child develops in the wisdom and knowledge of God and His ways.

Our teachers include a daily Bible lesson with songs, stories, and Scripture verses.  Teachers also use this time to present life application lessons that connect to children’s lives in a meaningful, age-appropriate way.  In addition to the daily Bible lessons, each child has the opportunity to participate in chapel on Fridays.

At WSCS ELC our primary curriculum for many years has been the A-Beka Curriculum. Children are taught scripture verses, Bible stories, math, reading, writing, art, science, music, poetry, and nursery rhymes.  Age appropriate books are used daily to enhance our learning activities.
